Each year many teams within SAP contribute to the enterprise performance management (EPM) submission for the Gartner Magic Quadrant for CPM Suites. Despite holding a leadership position for a number of years now, one can take nothing for granted.

It’s therefore a delight once more to see SAP recognized as a leader in CPM (Corporate Performance Management, Gartner’s term for EPM).  The 2012 report shows SAP not only retaining a leadership position with outright leadership for “completeness of vision”, but notably the company has also closed the gap on Oracle for its “ability to execute”.

Gartner’s MQ report is a flagship analyst report and trusted by many organizations for its insightful commentary on vendor capabilities in the software sector, and so retaining and improving upon a leadership position in the Gartner 2012 Magic Quadrant is a noteworthy achievement.

Factors contributing to SAP improving its leadership position include, among others, the breadth and completeness of the enterprise performance management portfolio, the level of customer focus and depth of expertise in sales, partner and services organizations, a clear and innovative product road map as well as acknowledging the organization’s strategy to leverage the SAP HANA platform.
