by Christian Rodatus, SVP and General Manager, Analytics, SAP the last few weeks building up to SAPPHIRE NOW, we’ve announced a lot of new innovations in our analytics solutions portfolio.

At SAPinsider in Europe two weeks ago, we announced innovations with SAP Lumira for trusted data discovery, visualization agility, and advanced insights. On May 15th, we also announced extending industry leading analytics solutions to the cloud including SAP Lumira Cloud. These innovations represent key areas that our customers are investing in and, as a result, are driving growth in the analytics market. According to Gartner, SAP continues to lead that market.

Today at SAPPHIRE NOW, Bernd Leukert announced collaboration for data discovery and Big Data between SAP and MongoDB. MongoDB is the fastest growing NoSQL database used by over a third of the Fortune 100 companies.  The collaboration will include future integration plans with MongoDB Enterprise and SAP Lumira, SAP’s solution for agile visualization.

This announcement demonstrates SAP’s strategy and intent to continue to support open and flexible technology integration to embed and extend analytics with market leading technology. It also builds on over 140 supported data sources that we currently offer.

Today, customers can connect to MongoDB via a JDBC connection using the latest version of SAP Lumira. Targeted for the upcoming release of SAP Lumira (version 1.17), the relationship will see SAP provide sample code and document the integration between SAP Lumira and MongoDB Enterprise via the Data Acquisition Extension framework.  Future development includes native integration for SAP Lumira to connect to MongoDB Enterprise (planned for a future release of SAP Lumira).
