Business colleagues talking while standing by stairway. As always, Steve Lucas – a dynamic presenter – set the stage for day one at the ASUG SAP Analytics & BusinessObjects User Conference in Fort Worth, Texas. He shared new product details and the SAP BusinessObjects roadmap, including SAP BusinessObejcts BI portfolio convergence, SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.2 coming in 2015, the next release of SAP InfiniteInsight, and SAP Lumira enhancements. Watch SAP Analytics TV to see snippets of the keynote which, will be available soon.

Some of my favorite quotes from the keynote were:

  • “You’re a right-mouse click away from being better.”
  • “SAP BI roadmap: It’s not about product preservation but feature preservation with dramatic simplification.”
  • “SAP Analytics Vision: Simplified. Integrated. Innovative.”
  • “We are committed to BusinessObjects for decades.”
  • “No one gets fired if you present data in infographics, no matter how bad the data is.”
  • “SAP will live & work as customers do. Using the products & taking risks.”

SAP mentor, Jamie Oswald, really took to heart Steve’s message. He thought Steve was “spot on” with the business problems users are having and that the way to address those issues was moving toward the SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 platform. See the video below for more:

ASUG SAP Social Media Lounge a Hive of Activity

Our Social Media lounge also saw a lot of activity:

  • ASUG members stopped by to earn ASUG HUB swag points
  • Attendees were clamoring for our Thrones of Data ducks – you can get your own by simply getting social with SAP Analytics: take a photo, record a video, or play SAP Buzzword Bingo

What is Thrones of Data? You’ll find out in Tuesday’s keynote, but here are a few examples to give you an idea—come by and take your own photo (you’ll get a duck):
