As we race towards one of our first event “majors” of the season, SAPinsider GRC and Financials in Las Vegas, March 21-24, I thought it would be a neat idea to hear from some of the SAP customers who’ll be presenting at the event, and learn why they’re planning to attend and what they’ll talk about. In this series of blogs you’ll be able to read what they have to say.

First, I heard from Scott Hollands of Vivint, a provider of smart home technology —which peaks my interest immediately since this is cutting-edge home security, automation, and energy management technology that I could potentially find in my own home at some very near point in the future.

The Customer Speaks

Scott, please tell me a little bit about your project and the SAP software you’ll be talking about at the SAPinsider conference.

I will be presenting Vivint’s current SAP S/4HANA Finance & SCM Implementation including GRC (EAM and ARA).  We are in final cutover right now and scheduled to be through Hyper-Care when we meet at the conference, so all discussions and lessons learned will be fresh.  As one of the first SAP S/4HANA implementations, we will cover all aspects from selection of SAP and our implementation partners and the challenges of being an early adopter.  The discussions surrounding implementation activities place an emphasis on our implementation governance and project management activities and the corresponding benefits we received. We will conclude with fresh lessons learned and our next steps.

What was the biggest lesson you learned as you undertook your project?

The importance of comprehensive project management and planning, including your implementation partners.  While this is a challenge in any implementation, with cutting edge technology new to the market place and most of our implementation partners, it is imperative to maintain your framework while addressing the challenges.

Without giving every detail away, can you describe one of the business impacts or benefits that you have experienced?

The short answer is watch this space – will we make it?  Seriously, we fully anticipate achieving a simplified and stable IT landscape for our business.  The new landscape reduces the complexity of the business systems footprint empowering our future business growth.

Thank you, Scott!
