Think of Amsterdam, and what comes to mind? Tulips, perhaps, or bicycles? Amstel or Heineken beer, or maybe something else entirely? Well, temporarily forget about all that and allow this to fill your mind – the SAPinsider Financials 2017 conference is taking place in Amsterdam, 14-16 June!

For readers who are planning to attend the conference this year, I believe that you’re in for a treat. As well as this fabulous city location, which is sure to provide the event a wonderful backdrop, the conference plans are similarly shaping up to inspire.

I’ve been lucky enough once again to have helped with the planning for the SAPinsider Financials event, and rather than have you spend a lot of time navigating the many sessions on offer, I thought that I’d try to help you plan your route to a productive time in Amsterdam.

So here are my thoughts on five of the activities and sessions you should take in on your visit.

  1. Keynote and Spotlight – on the first day of the conference, make sure that you take the time to join the main conference keynote for the latest in strategy, product news, and announcements. In addition, for a focus on Finance and EPM, then take in the spotlight session that day too. Details will be on the online agenda soon!
  2. Customer sessions – you’ll have chance to listen to many SAP customers share their experiences of using SAP software. These include Shell, BAT, Royal Bam, Adient and Fnac-Darty among many others. Make sure to attend these sessions – personally I find these to be the most interesting of all, and it’s always nice to hear someone’s story in their own words.
  3. Solution Centre for GRC and EPM – I’m very close to the planning for this, and as such must give it a special mention. Get close to the experts and the solutions in one-to-one demo sessions. Ask any question you like, and the team will do their very best to help you!
  4. Showfloor – Visit the EPM and Financials demo stations in the exhibition area, and take time to speak with the SAP team who’ll be happy to meet you. After that, visit our business partners at their own exhibition stands, to learn what specialist solutions and services they offer.
  5. Pre-conference sessions and conference sessions – get deep into the technical detail of your focus solutions by attending these three-hour long sessions, the day before the formal conference starts. I’ll single out just one SAP conference session—to find out the latest news on SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, ensure you get this one in your agenda!

And of course, don’t forget to take some time out and enjoy the many attractions that Amsterdam has on offer. I’ll be heading for one of the canal boats to hop on a cruise— a relaxing way to take in the charms of this beautiful city.

So, whether your interest is in continuous accounting and financial close topics or if you’re more interested in real-time planning, then with a little bit of forward planning, you’ll surely be able to get the most out of the event.

Have a great conference…and I hope to see you there!
