Planning is not an activity just for finance departments any longer. At SAP TechEd Barcelona this week, David Williams, VP of Product Marketing at SAP, and Matthias Kraemer, head of SAP Analytics Cloud planning at SAP, filled us in on what Collaborative Enterprise Planning means.

In this interview, Williams explains that Collaborative Enterprise Planning is the process of aligning strategic, financial, and functional plans across the entire enterprise for better business outcomes. Then Kraemer answered his questions about how SAP Analytics Cloud enables enterprises to link plans across organizations so teams can collaborate.

You can watch the entire 7-minute interview in the SAP TechEd Live studio.

Here Is the Scoop

  • Kraemer’s product team is working on planning capabilities within SAP Analytics Cloud, which is SAP’s combined solution for analytics, predictive, and planning.
  • The uniqueness of SAP Analytics Cloud comes from the aforementioned unified analytics as well as its ability to connect with all sorts of SAP and non-SAP applications (such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SuccessFactors, Concur, and Ariba), which enables an organization to do enterprise planning.
  • This connection into SAP Analytics Cloud also enables intelligent planning to be a fully integrated part of the intelligent technologies suite that runs the intelligent enterprise.
  • The future of enterprise planning in Kraemer’s eyes is the rise of automation, with machine learning and predictive analytics coming into play. The goal is to bring all of this into a planning process so people can make better decisions and achieve better business outcomes.
